Australian Personnel Consortium is committed to the Health, Safety and Welfare of our employees and the staff of our Customers. The APC Occupation, Health, Safety Management System (OHSMS) is consistent with the Australian/New Zealand Standard 4801 and includes modifications to incorporate rehabilitation and claims administration.
Australian Personnel Consortium is committed to ensuring that all staff have a safe and healthy work environment and assist our customers to maintain excellent safety records. We are also committed to minimising the risk of injury to our Temporary Staff in line with legislative requirements.
Our Specialist Account Management Strategy incorporating regular, scheduled on-site visits, ensures Australian Personnel Consortium's Specialist Consultants are aware of any changes to our clients site locations that may impact on the provision of a safe work environment i.e. relocation, building modifications/upgrades or changes to daily tasks/duties.
Australian Personnel Consortium has in place the following procedures to monitor safety performance on customer sites:-
- Workplace Health & Safety Pre-Placement Assessment forms (including Hazard Inspection checklists) will be completed by Australian Personnel Consortium before Temporary Staff commence work at client nominated sites.
- Identifiable hazards will be discussed with our customers and measures put into place to rectify the problem or reduce the chance of injury.
- The relevant Key Account Manager or Specialist Consultant, in consultation with the customer, will monitor hazards as required.
- Australian Personnel Consortium Temporary Staff will be made aware of any potential hazards and specific measures adopted to minimise risk.
- Regular on-site visits by the Key Account Manager or Specialist Consultants will ensure the ongoing monitoring of the health and safety of the Temporary Staff member and work environment.
- All accidents or near-miss occurrences are reported on Australian Personnel Consortium notification forms.
- The Key Account Manager or relevant Specialist Consultant will investigate the occurrence and formulate remedial action in consultation with the Customer's OHS&W representative and the Australian Personnel Consortium OHS&W coordinator.
- This will be followed by a review of corrective action to ensure the investigation and action that has been undertaken is effective and complete. This will be completed in consultation with all parties.
Reporting & Investigation Flow for Injury, Accident or Near Miss
- Accident / Incident / Near Miss occurs
- Customer identifies if Accident / Incident is extremely serious (if Yes, please refer to Serious Injury Procedures)
- Temporary Staff member injury and further risk to be identified
- Customer seeks appropriate first aid
- Customer notify Australian Personnel Consortium immediately
- If doctor attention required, Australian Personnel Consortium or Customer to arrange
- Key Account Manager or Specialist Consultant completes Accident/Incident report form for both Australian Personnel Consortium & Customer as soon as possible
- Australian Personnel Consortium, through liaison with Customer, follows up Temporary Staff member to:-
- Ascertain whether any further medical treatment is required
- How Australian Personnel Consortium can assist in a Recovery Plan
- Promote rehabilitation and offer assistance for light duties when possible
- Customer and Australian Personnel Consortium investigate the accident/incident cause before Temporary Staff member returns to work
- Assuming safe return to work is possible, Temporary Staff member returns to work as arranged with Customer and Australian Personnel Consortium
- Injury Notification and Claim lodgement procedures to be followed by Australian Personnel Consortium
- Australian Personnel Consortium, in conjunction with the Customer, continues to monitor the Temporary Staff Member's return to work and ongoing health and safety.
Rehabilitation Program
Australian Personnel Consortium will at all times take reasonable steps to prevent incidents and injuries from occurring, however we understand that a strong focus and direction needs to be placed on the Rehabilitation and Return to Work of Temporary Staff who have sustained injuries or illnesses.
Through an effective Rehabilitation program, Australian Personnel Consortium is committed to working with injured employees and our Customers in achieving a safe return to work. Australian Personnel Consortium believes that a return to suitable duties at the location of incident or injury should be the first step to encourage quick return to work and a healthy working environment.
