Environmental Profile
APC is committed to achieving compatibility between eco-efficiency and the maintenance of the environment. We therefore seek to ensure that, throughout all phases of our actions, APC personnel and temporary staff shall give thorough consideration to the ongoing care to flora, fauna, air, land and water quality, and to the community health and heritage which may be affected by those activities undertaken during the course of their employment.
APC also has in place an Environmental Management System in line with the requirement of AS/NZS ISO 14001 and Environmental Protection Authorities, meeting state legislative requirements that encompass our operations.
APC supports a variety of environmental procedures and work practises including a "Green Office" program in order to reduce our impact on the environment. With this in mind, there is a set of goals specific to APC Ltd where standard operations have been taken into consideration, as well as the evaluation of the impact on the environment, and have incorporated into our work ethics such as
- Power shut-offs within the offices at specific hours and when facilities are not in use
- Facilitating environmental initiatives with our landlords and property owners
- Recycling of waste within all offices and looking at the use of suitable recycled products in the form of stationary, furniture and lighting
- Minimise any adverse environmental impact from waste generation at our facilities through the safe and responsible disposal of residual wastes from these locations.
- Assess the potential environmental impacts before commencing on activities or procuring items that may have a detrimental effect on bio-diversity.
- Actively measure and monitor environmental performance, conduct audits on activities which have an environmental impact and ensure compliance with State and Local legislative requirements and company principles.
- Develop and maintain, where significant hazards exist, emergency preparedness plans in conjunction with emergency services, relevant authorities and the local community, recognising potential transboundary impacts.
- Integrate policies, programs and practises into each business unit as an essential element of management.
- Continue to improve on our corporate policies, programs and environment performance, taking into account the activity in which APC Ltd is predominately active within, their consumers needs and community expectations.
- Promote the education, training and motivation of employees to conduct their activities in an environmentally responsible manner.
